alpine valley, the nights under star-riddled skies. Watch the
sun set whiskey gold on the snow-covered peaks. Go, take a hike
through 20,000 acres in the Wheeler Peak Wilderness area. Navigate
your mountain bike along miles of trails in the Northside
recreational area. Ride a horse to Wheeler Peak. Jump on a snowmobile tour
and experience the scenic high country.
Consider the backdoor access to the backside of Taos Ski Valley,
one of the
nation’s top ski areas. The unparalleled scenery of the
area is also your playground.
Spring, summer and fall invite you to enjoy all the best
New Mexico has to offer. Adventurous? Challenge the rapids of the Rio
Grande in a kayak or raft; ride a mountain bike through hundreds of
miles of single-track trail; or rock climb in numerous basalt and granite
crags.
The Carson National Forest has over 400 miles of sparkling
mountain streams and a multitude of lakes. Below the ski valley, near
Hondo and the Rio Hondo are packed with rainbow trout. The Sawmill
Creek has a natural population of cutthroat trout.
